Course Description

This professional learning session focuses on the concept of backwards planning for ensemble music instruction, starting with district-provided summative assessments in mind. Participants will learn how to design daily rehearsals and learning activities that intentionally build the skills and knowledge needed to be successful on these assessments. By aligning instruction with district expectations, ensemble directors can create more focused, efficient, and student-centered ensemble experiences. The session aims to equip educators with practical strategies to connect rehearsal planning directly to assessment criteria, supporting high levels of musical growth and performance success.
