Course Description

This full-day professional learning session is designed for K–2 educators implementing UFLI Foundations and Sound–Spelling Transfer to strengthen foundational literacy instruction in both English and dual language classrooms. Participants will deepen their understanding of how these two tools work together to support phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, encoding, and writing, with a focus on building transferable literacy skills across languages. The day will focus on instructional routines, lesson structures, and practical classroom application, including how to intentionally connect UFLI instruction with Sound–Spelling Transfer to support students’ reading and writing development within the U-46 Language Block.
