3 PD Hours for Synchronous Session, 2.5 for Pre/Post Work

3 PD Hours for Synchronous Session, 1.5 for Post Work

Course Description

Part 1 (July 26, 9AM - 12PM): This PD includes Pre-work: Activate thinking around the topic of supporting academic language growth for all students (1 PD hour) and Post-work:  Apply the information to prepare to engage students (1.5 PD Hours)

Part 2 (July 27, 9AM - 12PM): Participants will learn and apply the  following Tactics for Success to Content Academic Language Instruction: 

Tactic 4: Support Interaction. Cooperative structures; Lifting the Level of talk.

Tactic 5: Make Text Accessible. Utilizing non-print text to meet standards.  Using g and creating adapted text; Supporting strategic reader actions with interactive read-alouds; Reading like a writer.

Tactic 6: Facilitate Metacognitive and Metalinguistic Work.  Support advance expectations for multilingual learners (LILAC Strategies and language focused anchor charts) 

This PD includes Post-Work (1.5 PD Hours)
