Course Description

This professional development will allow attendees to: a) Learn about the Latino/a/x Studies curriculum framework and units; b) Unpack the curriculum and the philosophy behind the course; c) Understand the progression of the course; d) Review the resources recommended and their relation to the units; e) Learn how to create an optimal DL learning environment based on the workshop model to impact students' learning; f) Learn how to implement relevant instructional strategies for Spanish literacy instruction; g) Work in collaboration to develop/share units and lessons.

Course Format Information

This course will take place in person.  Please bring your laptop.

Evaluation and Attendance Information

Evaluation forms for this course will be available for 24 hours after the course has ended.  All evaluation forms must be completed by that time.  Attendance will be taken via sign-in sheet and once the attendance information has been entered into the course, your PD hour form will be available. 

PD Hour/Professional Credit Information

As this is a required PD course taking place outside of school hours, you will receive pay for attending this course. Per the agreement between U-46 and ETA, all PD that receives hourly pay is not eligible for Professional Credits. You can submit these hours to ISBE/ELIS for licensure renewal but not to the Professional Credit System. If you have questions about this, please contact professionalcredit@u-46.org
